Give them from your heart!
Dear friends and colleagues, Aba-a-Bare! (Thank You, in Tupee)

On March 1st I leave for the Rio Negro area of the Brazilian Amazon on a mission to provide aid to the indigenous children's schools my brothers and mentors Ipupiara and Claicha established and to work with native shamans.

Without schooling, these amazing children face a devastating future. The girls sell their bodies in Manaus. The boys become day laborers at exploitive wages. You can see their pictures on www.globalecojourney.com .

I truly thank those who generously sent their contributions in the past two years, and today I ask you again to send this children whatever you can. My purpose is to arrive with $4,500 or more. That's enough money to accomplish the following:
- Keep a kitchen for hot lunch, buy a refrigerator
- Build a new schoolroom
- Repairing the existing school structures
- Hire two new teachers
- Purchase a year's worth of school supplies & furniture
- Enable 220 children currently on a waiting list to enroll

Believe it or not, $4,500 can accomplish all of the above by purchasing these essentials at Manaus, in the heart of the Amazonas region.

I will accompany Ipupiara, whose work in behalf of his people is selfless. Ipupiara holds a PhD in Anthropology and serves as a consultant to the Smithsonian in Washington. He comes from the Rio Negro region and planned to purchase land there for his own retirement. But when he saw the plight of the children, he built the first elementary school and, now, another. Thanks to his efforts, approximately 100 children are learning to read and write, practice their own native languages, rituals, dances and songs and learn to preserve their age-old ecological culture. Which will enable them to become self sufficient!

So give them from your heart! Any amount you can send, even $25, will be truly appreciated.

Make check today to: Global Eco Journey (mark it for School Project)

Also, if you are a teacher or work in a public or private school, and interested in helping us get children involved, let me know. We can develop "Adopt a School" programs, whereby student may learn about life in the Amazon, environment issues, cultural practices, food, plants and even come on a trip to meet the children who they correspond with. We can come show films, bring native-born anthropologists and create workshops for the children.

If you have any questions please email or call me at 212-533-0909
Many blessings, Itzhak Beery

Please pass it on to other people who might can help!!!

Have you ever had a dream of one day taking an exciting adventure to some remote unexplored corner of the planet? Do thoughts of wild, primeval places conjure up images of the Amazon rainforest? Global Eco Journey offers you a unique opportunity to explore the Brazilian Amazon rainforest located deep within the heart of Mother Earth.

Interact with native people who “walk their talk” and live with mutual respect for nature and the environment. Experience a profound sense of belonging based on principles of family and community, something sought after but so elusive in the harried lives we live today.

Throughout our journey you will be part of a “grassroots” experience which strives to walk gently on the Earth leaving minimal cultural or environmental impact.

Our inspirational motto “Nurturing and conserving the natural way” is based on the traditional lifestyles of the rainforest indigenous people. Throughout our travels with Global Eco Journey we experience the life of the pure, natural, native conservationist.

Objectives:

To promote a cross-cultural bridge of understanding, appreciation, tolerance, and respect for other people’s values, spiritual traditions, social norms and ways of life.

To be an apprentice of nature, to connect with the beautiful surroundings and experience personal transformation and natural learning.

To enrich our participants’ lives by providing educational experiences in South America while demonstrating that living sustainable is not only possible, it is downright fun!! By combining old traditions with modern ways we can create a conscientious earth-honoring lifestyle.
As the traveler who has once been from home
is wiser than he who has never left his own doorstep,
so a knowledge of one other culture should
sharpen our ability to scrutinize
more steadily, to appreciate
more lovingly, our own.

WISDOM OF THE AMAZON AND ANDES MEDICINE - THE SHAMANI HEALING PATH SEMINAR

Wisdom of the Amazon and Andes Medicine

The Shamanic Healing Path Seminar

With Ipupiara Makunaiman and Itzhak Beery

Join us in an exceptional seminar by two unique shamanic healers. Ipupiara (fresh-water dolphin - for the first time in Italy!) - who is a native of the Brazilian Amazon Ureu-eu wau-wau (the people of the stars) tribe. Itzhak, Native Israeli who was initiated into the Ecuadorian Quechua healing tradition.

Ipupiara and Itzhak together, will be teaching us the native healing viewpoint and cosmology. With sacred healing ceremonies, rituals and chants that will help us open and heal our hearts; feel in peace and harmony to become Earth honoring people. We will connect and honor Tupana (the Great One), Pacha Mama (Mother Earth), Yara (the Goddess of all Waters) and the Apus (the mountain Spirits). We will learn diversified healing techniques used in the Brazilian rainforest and the Andes Mountains.

Using shamanic journeys into Spirit worlds, Indigenous storytelling, drumming and other ancient methods, participants will have the rare opportunity to have a hands-on healing experience and gain sacred knowledge that is unique to the disappearing worlds of the indigenous cultures. These processes can increase your own personal healing power and you will be able to integrate item into your own practices.

IPUPIARA'S FAREWELL SACRED CEREMONY

SATURDAY MAY 21ST
PLEASE GIVE A LIBERAL DONATION TO HIS KIDS

We are sorry to announce the passing of the workshop's co-leader Ipupiara Makunaiman on May 16th.
A special memorial ceremony to honor him will be held during the workshop by Itzhak who studied and worked with him for many years.

The New York Shamanic Circle is sadden by the passing of

Ipupiara Makunaiman
Dr. Bernardo D. Peixoto

In the past twelve years, we were fortunate to benefit from Ipupiara's generous contributions of storytelling, humor, open heart and authenticity. His infinite shamanic wisdom, human knowledge, rich tradition and the Green Path healing ways will continue to nurture our community for many years to come.

He was our beloved elder, supporter and a cheerleader with a strong message that we are all shamans and need to live in Earth-honoring ways. “Just because I have funny accent or a feather on my head doesn't make me a better shaman then you are,” he told us at every opportunity.

The man from the “People from the Stars” Ure-wua-wua tribe now joined his ancestor and become a bright star himself, watching us from above and guiding us in the dark.

Ipu, as we afffectionately called him, and his wife Cleicha, dedicated themselves to supporting the ecological and regular educations of indigenous children. They established and supported two schools in the Amazon, giving the cildren the skills needed to support themselves in the twenty-first century while ensuring they learned their own ancient traditions.

The NY Shamanic Circle will announce a special memorial for Ipupiara soon.
